Growing with Microvellum

By using Microvellum software, Willow Tree Interiors has overcome workflow challenges and seen significant growth.

In 1990, John Stanger founded the East Sussex company Willow Tree Interiors to create high-quality kitchens and furniture by blending traditional woodworking with modern machinery. Luke Stanger, now the Managing Director and John’s eldest son, joined the team in 2007.

Willow Tree Interiors has upheld its commitment to craftsmanship and client satisfaction, but as the business grew and projects became more complex, Luke realised there was a need for a software package that could seamlessly integrate both design and manufacturing, help them overcome workflow challenges, redundant processes and bottlenecks. The bespoke nature of Willow Tree’s work meant not everything could be designed in a single platform, forcing them to use multiple software solutions to complete projects. This led to increased questions from the production team, a higher risk of errors and inefficiencies in their operations.

Since investing in Microvellum in early 2024, Microvellum's automation from design to manufacturing has transformed operations by eliminating unnecessary steps, reducing shop-floor clarifications, and seamlessly integrating with their CNC machine, the Biesse Skill 1536 GFT. It has minimised manual processes, reduced the risk of errors and significantly boosted overall efficiency.

With the help of Microvellum, the team at Willow Tree Interiors is able to complete projects faster, allowing them to take on more complex and bespoke projects. They are quickly outgrowing their 4,200sq.ft workshop and plan to expand by purchasing a larger factory. “Microvellum has given us the backbone to keep growing the company and produce more complicated projects for less,” shares Luke.

With Microvellum now implemented, Willow Tree Interiors has the tools for success and the dedicated support of the Microvellum team. “The support service has been brilliant. To our knowledge, no other software comes close to what Microvellum offers. Working with the Microvellum team has been an absolute pleasure, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. It has significantly impacted our factory, empowering us to plan for further growth.”
